A Tangled Web is a quest available in Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines.

Acquisition

This quest is acquired by talking to Mitnick in the Nosferatu Warrens. Asking questions about how he came to be Embraced and security will prompt him to discuss the need for additional network hubs, and he can be convinced to let the player help.

Walkthrough

Brief

1. Once you enter the Warrens head through towards Gary Golden. After crossing the bridge in the middle of the area turn left and then take the first door on the right.
2. Talk to Mitnick and ask about how he joined the Nosferatu
3. When he mentions the network press for details
4. Offer to help setup the hubs
5. Return to your current Haven and check your emails
6. Mitnick will ask you to take a keycard left in your mailbox and go to Megahurtz Computing in Santa Monica.
7. Collect the key card from your mailbox before exiting the Haven.
8. Once there you will need to find a switch on the wall to activate power in the shop
9. Log onto the computer using the credentials Mitnick provided and run schrecknet.
10. This will activate the first hub and reward you with 2 XP
11. Return to your Haven and another set of emails will be waiting with instructions to enter Nocturne Theatre in Downtown.
12. Collect the camera from your mailbox before exiting the Haven.
13. Go through the sewers to access the Theatre.
14. Place the camera (in the walkways above), then proceed to the terminal (far end of the area from where you start) and log onto it using the credentials Mitnick provided to run schrecknet.
15. This will activate the second hub and reward you with 2 XP
16. Return to your Haven and another email will be waiting with instructions to enter Metalhead Industries in Hollywood.
17. Collect the key card from your mailbox before exiting the Haven.
18. Use the key card to enter Metalhead, you will need to move to the middle of the far wall (don't go straight to the raised area on the left).
19. Enter this room and use the computer to unlock the door to Operations (password: codpiece).
20. Now head to the raised area (left of where you entered, but right of where you come out the door.)
21. Enter the office and use the computer to activate schrecknet (password: Bang Your Head).
22. This will reward you with 2 XP
23. Return to your Haven and another email will be waiting with instructions to enter Kamikazi Zen in Chinatown.
24. Collect the key card from your mailbox before exiting the Haven.
25. Use the key card to open the door to Kamikazi Zen.
26. Once inside go to the second office through the right door.
27. Logon to the computer and use power then hooligan to shut down the power.
    1. At this stage a timer will appear at the top of the screen for 10 minutes, after this power will come back on.
28. Continue through the security door (to your right as you exit the above office).
29. Check the computers inside to learn the code to the next security door (4567).
30. Once through, turn right to enter a server room.
31. Use the computer within to load schrecknet and unlock the vault (password: nirvana).
32. This will reward you with 2 XP
33. Quest Complete
    1. (Optional) After you exit the server room enter the vault opposite and collect $500
    2. (Optional) if the 10 minute timer runs out (or you'd rather not use the front door) enter the Art Director's office and Mitnick will unlock a vent in the corner for you to escape through.

Log Entry
Update: Upon receiving quest: You have agreed to help Mitnick set up a new Nosferatu network. He will be contacting you with instructions via your email account back at your haven.
Update: After first email from Mitnick: You have received instructions on how to activate the Santa Monica network hub. You need to find Megahurtz Computing at the end of 2nd Street, and enter through the alleyway beind the building Mitnick has left you the key in your mailbox. Power up the terminal, find the "Net Security" older and run the "schrecknet" command. The password on the folder is "Gil Bates".
Update: After completing the Santa Monica hub: You have successfully activated the Santa Monica hub for the Nosferatu network. Mitnick will be contacting you shortly via email with new instructions.
Update: After second email from Mitnick: You have received instructions on how to activatae the downtown network hub. You need to enter the Nocturne Theatre through the sewers, mount a wireless camera near the red X, and activate it through the network terminal (which is in the basement of the theater). Mitnick has left you the camera in your mailbox. After it is activated, login to the "Net Security" folder and run "schrecknet". The password is "Break a Leg". It is VERY important that you are not seen while you are there.
Update: After completing the Downtown hub: You have successfully activated the Downtown hub for the Nosferatu network. Mitnick will be contacting you shortly via email with new instructions.
Update: After third email from Mitnick: You have received instructions on how to activate the Hollywood hub for the Nosferatu network. You need to enter Metalhead Industries in Hollywood (Mitnick has left the key in your mailbox), and activate the terminal. Mitnick said that the terminal is in "Operations", which is on the second floor of the warehouse. It is VERY important that you are not seen while you are there and don't kill anyone.
Update: After completing the Hollywood hub: You have successfully activated the Hollywood hub for the Nosferatu network. Mitnick will be contacting you shortly via email with new instructions.
Update: After fourth email from Mitnick: You have received instructions on how to activate the Chinatown hub for the Nosferatu Network. You need to enter a company named Kamikazi Zen (Mitnick has left the key in your mailbox) and activate the terminal, which is in the server room. An inside agent has put a virus named "hooligan" on one of the office terminals. Find the file and execute it. This will shut down the power, allowing you to get past the heavy security door. Somewhere behind this door is the server room. You better also steal something out of the electronic safe to throw investigators off the scent.
Update: After completing the Chinatown hub: You have successfully activated all of the hubs for Mitnick. The new Nosferatu network is up and operational. Quest Complete
