Auspex is a Discipline in Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines. It grants Vampires supernatural senses. It is one of the most common and favored Discipline among Cainites due to its versatility and overall usefulness in just about every facet of vampiric existence.

Everything that is happening to someone and has an effect on that person's aura is also detected by Auspex. It is also the Discipline of the "seer line" of Antediluvians: the Toreador, and the Malkavian. It is also used by the Tremere.

Note: Auspex is a progressive Discipline like Presence or Potence. It has no individual powers, just one effect which grows in strength.

Types of auras[]

Each aura seen with Auspex has its own color, depending on the feelings and the nature of the target:

  • The aura of an undisturbed mortal or ghost is white in color.
  • The aura of a Kindred or Kuei-jin is a dark purple in color.
  • The aura of a transformed mortal is whiteish in color.
  • The aura of a suspicious enemy is blue in color.
  • The aura of a fearful enemy is orange in color.
  • The aura of an aggressive enemy is red in color.

Even though these effects are not seen in the game, the aura of a practitioner of diablerie gets black veins and the aura of a werewolf is extremely bright.
