“ | Flamethrowers, in one form or another, have been used since ancient times. This one propels burning fuel in a several-foot arc, scorching everything in its path. ―In-game description | ” |
The Flamethrower is a ranged weapon in Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines. It is devastatingly effective against vampires and most other supernatural creatures, given that they take extra damage from fire. Its napalm ammunition is rare and expensive.
Prerequisites[]
Complete the quest Italian Dinner.
Acquisition[]
- Available for purchase from Mercurio and Fat Larry.
- Can be found in the Hallowbrook Hotel atrium (Plus Patch) or first interior level (Classic).
Characteristics[]
The Flamethrower is one of the most powerful weapons in the game. It is especially lethal against vampires, to which it usually deals an additional effect, such as stunning and leaving them open for further attacks.
Unfortunately, it burns its fuel extremely fast, consuming a full canister in about two or three seconds of continuous fire. As such, it's strongly recommended to use it sporadically by just taping the trigger once (mouse button or key) to let out a short burst. This way, a canister will last for three small bursts (roughly consuming 50 fuel units each from 150 that holds a full canister), thus optimizing its usage. If the enemy gets stunned, then it's recommended to switch to another weapon/discipline and take that opportunity to deal as much damage as possible until they recover.
Used this way, a single canister should suffice to defeat Andrei's Zulo form in only three short flamethrower bursts. This weapon also excels when fighting Ming Xiao's Demon Shintai form, as the flames can eventually stun her and allow the player to use other means in the meantime to further damage her (such as using firearms or disciplines from a distance).
