Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines Wiki

Torpor is a state of deep sleep that a Vampire may enter, either voluntarily or as a result of lack of blood and/or damage received. This is separate from the Final Death in that the Vampire may eventually awaken again.

Vampires are not seen in torpor state or entering in torpor during Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines gameplay and those whose health reaches zero face final death including the fledgling unlike Vampire: The Masquerade - Redemption where the characters of the coterie enter in torpor.

Within Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines here are two main instances where this state is referenced:

  • Some characters in the Los Angeles area believe that the Ankaran Sarcophagus contains an ancient vampire (possibly an Antediluvian) in Torpor and thus they fight for control of it.
  • Within the Kuei-jin ending where the fledgling is dumped along with the Sarcophagus into the sea. Since the fledgling would not die but likewise would find escape extremely difficult it is likely they would enter Torpor.
